Friday, 21st October 2016 was one of special day for Dexon Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd. On that day, two LEAN gurus from Japan, Mr Satoshi Kuroiwa and Mr Isao Yoshino, visited Dexon Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd headquarter office in Puchong to give mentoring regarding LEAN implementation in construction business. The discussion conducted as “LEAN Sharing Session”. Mr JR Victor as a LEAN Master from Malaysia also participated in this event to share LEAN implementation in Malaysia.
LEAN is a systematic method for the elimination of waste within a manufacturing system. That’s why, LEAN also commonly known as LEAN manufacturing or LEAN production. Before widely known with this name, LEAN was originally The Toyota Production Sytem (TPS), which is an integrated socio-technical system developed by Toyota that organizes manufacturing and logistics for the automobile manufacturer. Therefore, being visited by two “Toyota Motor Corporation Old Boy” to discuss how LEAN be adopted in construction industry is such an honour for Dexon Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd.
Dexon LEAN Sharing Session began with LEAN introduction to Head of Departments (HOD) and directors. There, Mr Satoshi Kuroiwa and Mr Isao Yoshino explained the idea of LEAN, how LEAN journey started from TPS, and how LEAN can improve a company to work effectively. They also shared how their experience is developing LEAN.
Next, Mr Satoshi Kuroiwa and Mr Isao Yoshino visited one of Dexon project site Petaling Jaya . Accompanied by Dexon Senior Project Manager Mr Paul Goh, the two LEAN Japanese gurus had a chance to see closer how’s a contractor work. Input and feedback are being given by Mr Isao Yoshino and Mr Satoshi Kuroiwa based on their observation.
“What a good time to learn directly from the masters,” said Paul. As a senior project manager, he feels excited to learn something new in construction industry.
